A field guide to growing up without growing apart

California Dreamin’

I’m on Vacation in California! Hello friendship and happiness!

Nope, none of the other naughty princesses are on my itinerary this time. Give me a few more months, then we’ll talk.

Okay so that isn’t really true. I’m actually sitting in my bedroom the day before I’m supposed to leave for California doing my best to avoid packing until the last possible second. Turns out there is a very handy button I can push that will automatically post this on my Thursday time slot and since I plan on going mostly unplugged for these next 10 days this way you won’t have to miss your bi-weekly dose of the Booty!

Since I’m cramped for time I’ll keep this short (I’m sure you’ll appreciate that if you’ve read ANY of my other posts) and just say how excited I am not to be packing my computer along for this journey. Don’t get me wrong I love the internet. Facebook, email, skype, you fine blog people, I love what we can do with just a few pushes of buttons. But I also love living in the present-interacting with and reacting to and influencing the real live actual things around me. I’m going to see a few friends from high school and some others from college and I want to be able to give them my full attention, not be worried about checking my email or seeing what everyone else is up to on facebook. This week is about them, about me. You all will be there waiting once I get back. I’m happiest when I’m moving, sometimes you have to put down the toys to really get up to speed.

p.s. I will have my fancy smart phone along so I won’t be entirely cut off if you have any internet emergency that only I could save you from. That would be seriously awesome.

  • Have fun in California, Sleeping Booty! And you are right, sometimes we all need a break from the tyrannical presence of technology. We all look forward to hearing about your adventures!

  • I’m back! and I missed you way more than I planned to! I’m also way more sun burnt than i planned. and even less excited to get back to work. Whoever said vacations are supposed to be relaxing was wrong. Now i’m just restless and exhausted and even more burnt out than before..
